Nestled in the Cordwell Valley on the edge of the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District, Millthorpe Nursery is an acre of horticultural heaven. Having re-opened the nursery in September 2016 we are now coming to the end of our first year.
And what a year it's been! We'd like to take this opportunity to say a big "Thank You" to all our customers, friends and family who have been so supportive over the past twelve months. Never having run a nursery before it's all been a bit of an adventure, but one that we've loved every minute of. So we're already looking forward to and planning next year!
We still have plenty of colourful perennials and shrubs for filling those holes in your borders, and we also have a few remaining dahlias for that fantastic autumn colour - give one a go this year!
Our stock is changing all the time and, if we don't have it in, just ask - we can usually source most plants that our customers are looking for.
We look forward to meeting you
Carl and Deirdre
Is your colour fading?
As I write this it's the middle of August and some of our gardens are starting to lack some colour. Roses have faded, geraniums sprawled and everything's looking, well... a little green.
What you need are those late summer and autumn colours - the dusky red heads of sedum, smothered in bees; vibrant yellows of rudbeckia; the glowing whites and pinks of Japanese anemones.
All of these will provide interest through until the first frosts!
And if you want to keep the colour going further then why not think about pansies and violas for the back end of the year - and maybe plant some bulbs for the spring.
Nothing like planning ahead!
